40 Years Of Innovation

While Polartec was born in 1991, the story of Malden Mills’ PolarFleece began ten years prior. The invention of this revolutionary new fabric would kick-off 40 years of continuous innovation that would forever shape the Outdoor industry. In fact, we grew up right alongside one another. For each new innovation milestone enabled each new generation to go further, stay warmer, and get outside longer than ever before.

Something else that goes along with the outdoors is a good story. That’s why we teamed up with Outside Magazine to tell ours. We’ve created an interactive timeline that chronicles 40 years of groundbreaking fabric advances, apparel innovations, and cultural moments that make up our collective outdoor experience. Oh, and let’s not forget the mullets.
