Just look at the Ridge Liner Jacket and Ascent Zip Neck, both of which are made with Polartec® Alpha™ active insulation. The Ridge Liner is designed to function as a midlayer but thanks to its relaxed fit, it doubles as a lightweight outer. The Ascent Zip Neck, on the other hand, is a best-in-class midlayer inspired by military layering systems. No surprise here. Polartec® Alpha™ was originally developed for the U.S. Special Forces to provide advanced insulation that regulates body temperature during the starting and stopping of active combat. With hydrophobic, lofted fibers connected to a solid mesh core it ensures adaptable breathability while helping eliminate the need for shedding or adding clothing while on the move.
