It's World Bicycle Day!

June 3rd, 2021 marks the United Nations’ fourth World Bicycle Day. Created back in 2018, World Bicycle Day was established to promote cycling. The humble bicycle is one of history’s best inventions: cycling is accessible to all, offers a great form of exercise and is environmentally friendly. Polartec®, provider of innovative, sustainable textile solutions, makes fabrics for the world’s cyclists. Today it’s celebrating all things cycle-related with its top sustainable must-haves whatever the specialty be it mountain, road or gravel.

Our top cycling tech picks:

Scott

For the mountain biker

Scott’s Trail Tuned L/SL men’s shirt and Women’s Contessa Signature Collection have been designed for high level trail riding. The shirts feature ride-optimized sleeves and have been cut to emulate the riding position for better performance on the bike. They use Polartec Delta, a bi-component knit fabric that uses the body’s natural cooling function to keep the rider cool even on the most demanding of rides. Polartec® Delta™ also offers superior wicking and is highly breathable, perfect wear for long, hot cycle days.

Santini gravel

For the gravel cyclist

Santini’s Gravel Delta T-shirt for men and women is made entirely from a recycled version of Polartec® Delta™. It features excellent thermoregulating properties and works by elevating touch-points which leads to increased airflow, faster moisture dispersal, and reduced wet-cling. Great for wearing on that intense ride this summer.

Santini forza

For the indoor cyclist

With inadequate ventilation, the need for technical clothing engineered to wick, breathe and keep you cool is increasingly important. Using state-of-the art Polartec Delta™ with recycled content Santini’s FORZA range cools your body while you sweat allowing riders to train in comfort. Polartec Delta™ is lightweight and has been engineered to harness the cooling properties of sweat without the cling, making it perfect for indoor training. This version of Delta is constructed from 100% recycled polyester yarns. Polartec has been using recycled content for over 25 years and to date has recycled more than 1.8 billion PET plastic bottles, saving them from landfill and turning them into premium, technical fabrics.

Santini uci

For the cycling champion

Santini Cycling Wear has renewed its partnership with the UCI for the next four years to produce the UCI World Champion Jersey. This year though it will be using Polartec 100% recycled Power Dry®. This fabric has long been a favorite of cycle brands the world over because of its advanced next-to-skin moisture management.  Using a bi-component knit construction it manages to utilize every fiber, delivering maximum efficiency.  Intense activity gives rise to perspiration which needs to be managed when in a competitive environment.  Polartec Power Dry efficiently does this by pulling moisture away from the body quickly and transferring it to the outer surface for fast evaporation during activity ensuring the rider remains comfortable.

Pas normal solitude navy

For the road cyclist

The men’s Solitude Mesh Jersey from PAS NORMAL STUDIOS is made for hard days on the bike. The jersey has been tailored to the brand’s signature race fit for seamless comfort and aerodynamics. It uses Polartec® Delta™ cooling fabric, and as a result is able to more effectively utilize the body's natural cooling process through its bi-component knit construction. This innovative fabric composition delivers more advanced control of moisture dispersal, effectively improving breathability when wet and eliminating wind chill after a tough ride.
