Polartec Fabrics with Polygiene® effectively
combat body odor by inhibiting the growth
of odor-causing bacteria in the fabric. Polygiene®
Odor Resist Technology is a silver-salt treatment that
permanently binds to the fibers of a fabric. It is nonleaching
and safe. Polygiene is bluesign approved
and qualifies for Oeko-tex 100 certification. The silver
in Polygiene is 100% recycled, recovered from recycled
electronics.
This system differs from yarn-based silver ion delivery
systems which extrude silver ion containing particles
into the yarn. Those leave a majority of the active
ingredient (silver chloride) trapped inside the yarn
where it cannot perform. The silver-salt in Polygiene
works because silver physically disables the growth
of bacteria. Silver salt technologies require a tiny
amount of silver to be highly effective. This differs
from chemical products to which bacteria can build a
tolerance.
